New Bath Project

We haven't done much with the bath yet.  Below are some shots as we removed the existing drywall.  Interestingly, the underlying 2 x 4's measured an actual 2" by 4" suggesting the original addition was completed sometime before the lumber industry decided to start cutting costs by giving us less actual wood- not sure when that was exactly.  We've assumed that the removal of the back porch and enclosure of the half-bath (downstairs) and utility room was completed by the original owner.  However, since the interior was drywalled it appears to have been completed or at least remodeled after 1950 or so.

Bathroom rebuild project - July 2, 2004.

Our most recent major project is a tear-off and rebuild of the northwest corner of the house.  Originally designed as a small, double-deck porch this area had been closed in years ago.  With a low-slope roof the area was a constant problem area with ice dams and leaks.  We've decided to rebuild with a better pitched roof and try to improve the aesthetics of the exterior from the north and west.  The outside is nearly complete and color has been added.  This has been a big project so far.  Work still needs to be done inside but the new bathroom is nearly ready for use and includes a large whirlpool tub and separate shower.
