Foyer & Stairway

We had one broken spindle or baluster on the stairway in the open front foyer.  Wanting to maintain the original look we contracted with a local craftsman, Ron Shada (Shada Millworks), to make a half dozen copies of the spindle.  The grain pattern in the oak is slightly different, but we were pleased with the overall look.

Our next project with the foyer is to duplicate the large oak finial upstairs to replace a pine finial which does not match.  The mismatched finial is rightmost in the second picture below.

This work will need to be done in a mill.  We're looking at having a CNC machine make the new finial.  More on that later...
